As data and artificial intelligence become increasingly important to business success, technical leadership is playing a critical role in shaping the future of IT.
Responsibilities
- Lead solution design, defining technical approaches and influencing architecture decisions across a range of AI technologies, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Natural Language Processing, Computer Vision and Machine Learning.
- Oversee the development of scalable AI applications, APIs and microservices while ensuring solutions meet governance, security and operational requirements.
- Work closely with product owners and stakeholders, translate business challenges into practical AI solutions.
- Define value propositions, success measures and delivery roadmaps while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and technology strategy.
- Contribute to the evolution of Scottish Power's AI engineering practices, establishing reusable patterns, improving MLOps capabilities and supporting the adoption of modern cloud-native architectures.
- Ensure AI model deployment, monitoring, automation, CI/CD pipelines and responsible AI practices that ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.
- What you’ll bring
- Significant experience in software engineering, AI and cloud technologies, with a proven track record of delivering AI solutions at scale.
- Strong expertise in Python and modern machine learning frameworks, alongside experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.
- Knowledge of LLM frameworks, RAG architectures, MLOps tooling, container technologies and enterprise data platforms.
- Effective communicator who can influence both technical and business stakeholders.
- Comfortable leading discussions, challenging proposals, managing ambiguity and building trusted relationships across complex organisations.
