What you’ll be doingAs Substation Inspector you should ensure Transmission sub-stations and Grid Supply Point 11kV – 400kV are inspected for defects by carrying out inspection in accordance with sub-station inspection scheme. This is an excellent opportunity to be working outdoors in the fresh air, on a variety of terrains, planning your workload within set working hours or flexible working hours. It would suit someone with a general engineering or electrical maintenance background and who is now interested in working in the compliance side of the Business.
You will be contributing as an effective member of Transmission OHL and Substations Maintenance team while undertaking routine inspection in accordance with inspection programme and inspection checklist e.g. fences, compound, building, batteries, to ensure substation security and various other activities and undertaking general tidying work. Take remedial action on certain defects e.g. fence repairs, signage, etc. Excludes work on live equipment. Take readings from all sub-station equipment i.e. transformers, voltage transformers and strive to eliminate customer complaints as an on-site representative of the company.
What you’ll bring- Ability to read cable pressure and relate to min/max pressure levels for cables.
- Ability to take readings and carry out checks on all items on inspection schedule e.g. circuit breakers/transformers/fencing/building.
- Ability to undertake basic repairs to fences (replace missing plates etc).
- Attention to detail to complete checks with accuracy and consistency.
- Awareness of Health & Safety Requirements.
- Computer Literate.
- Full driver’s License (essential).
