Help us create a better future, quicker. To develop and maintain relationships in the community in a planned and structured manner. Promote and showcase our activities as part of supporting the significant SPT CAPEX programme (Circa 300 + projects as part of £5bn+ Investment Plan). Work with project teams to develop, consent, and deliver significant infrastructure activities which impact upon local communities throughout Central belt and Southern Scotland. Support wider communication and stakeholder activities and initiatives.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop communication and community relations activities to support and promote project development and delivery programmes.
- Establish, build, develop and review relationships with key stakeholders in the community.
- Undertake presentations/discussions with community bodies.
- Organise and support events and pro-active communication activities to ensure we are showcasing our activities and communicating our plans to relevant stakeholders (e.g. PR Video, community drop-in sessions, agricultural shows, gala days etc).
- Responsible for ensuring relevant information is developed and shared via correct medium to our community stakeholders.
- Prepare/draft responses for major projects enquiries/complaints from community/stakeholders.
- Work with Project teams and external parties to assess and minimise disruption through pro-active communications and awareness raising to ensure minimal customer complaints.
- Establish, maintain and develop relations with Energy Networks staff from across the business in particular SPD.
- Responsible for ensuring SPT Community Tracker (enquiries and complaints) is updated, provide and manage relevant data for SPT KPI scorecard.
- Preparation of articles (associated with major projects) for internal & external channels and publications – including media, social media, video content etc.
- Responsible for promoting and updating project websites, internal & external web platforms.
- Respond to situations requiring a community input i.e. storms/emergencies communicating with parties as directed.
- Input to project reviews to ensure lessons learned identified and implemented.
- Oversee the proactive establishment/continuation of positive long term relationships with local communities around key areas of transmission network.
What you’ll bring:
- Experience in community relations related roles.
- Strong communications and engagement experience, in communities.
- Experience in developing and maintaining internal and external stakeholder networks.
- Proven experience of working in project related environment.
- Ability to communicate and present information effectively at all levels both verbally and written to internal and external stakeholders.
- Problem-solving skills – ability to provide sound logical solutions to issues.
- Ability to negotiate with multiple parties and develop satisfactory outcomes.
- Ability to diffuse potential conflict situations with members of the public.
- Appreciation of the key business drivers and the aims of SPT business and how community activities compliment and contribute to these aims.
- Understanding of key business drivers and the external context in which SP is operating.
- Produce management reports and statistics as directed.
- Capability to manage and influence challenging discussions/situations at all levels.
- Ability to manage competing priorities using sound judgement to determine options and solutions.
- Health and Safety knowledge and awareness.
- In broad terms possess knowledge of Net Zero goals – network requirements/implications and resulting impact on communities.
- Full UK Drivers Licence.
