This position is based within the School of Health and Sports Science (SoHSS). The post holder will collaborate with academic staff to develop a new portfolio of placements suitable for programmes within the School, focusing on establishing and preparing new placements.
The responsibilities include managing administrative processes such as identifying, recording, and approving student placements, administering audits, and maintaining mentor/employer information.
The post holder will work closely with the Graduate Outcome Manager to engage targeted cohorts and embed career opportunities within the curriculum for current students.
This role is varied, interesting, and challenging, requiring flexibility, independence, teamwork, and prioritization skills to meet deadlines and quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with SoHSS staff (Head of School, Deputy Head, Programme Leaders, Module Leaders) to establish a network of practice placements, seeking potential placements and liaising with programme leaders to assess suitability.
- Maintain communication channels with placement providers to maximize capacity and develop systems (e.g., risk assessments) for monitoring placement allocations and capacity requirements.
- Coordinate administrative processes for the allocation and recording of practice placements for all SoHSS students.
- Maintain student records databases, provide accurate statistical data, and coordinate data collection efforts.
- Provide advice to staff and students on placement matters, serving as a point of contact for placement queries.
- Manage processes for tracking and recording placement audits, including DBS procedures when necessary.
- Coordinate with internal and external bodies (admissions, Academic Registry, graduate outcome team) to ensure effective communication regarding placement provision.
- Support internal and external meetings related to placements through documentation and minutes.
- Contribute to process reviews and evaluations, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective service delivery, including report writing.
- Work independently, prioritizing tasks and delegating as appropriate.
- Perform administrative duties as required.
- Participate in meetings and working groups, representing the department and faculty as needed.
- Assist the Graduate Outcome Manager in engaging targeted cohorts and embedding career opportunities within the curriculum.
- Promote and support the GO Work Experience and Employability modules.
- Support external networking to create development opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Graduate Outcome Manager to review careers support and provision within SoHSS.
