Ian Williams is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager for our business based in West Yorkshire, leading on our Voids and Planned Workstreams. We offer work with real social conscience and impact, collaborating with our teams, clients, and customers to ensure we are making a difference together.

As a Contracts Manager, you will have full operational responsibility to ultimately impact and achieve exceptional customer satisfaction and exceed targeted KPI performance. The Contracts Manager role:

  • Responsible for leading the operational delivery of void and planned programs.
  • Instilling ownership and responsibility in your teams to support the successful delivery of works to the expected standards, on time and to budget. With a direct labour team, you will lead by example, motivating, incentivising, and developing individuals, including Apprentices – we believe in delivering our work directly, and developing from within.
  • Take ownership of recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new members.
  • Health and Safety measures will be paramount to you, and you’ll ensure they are in place and monitored.
  • Ensure resources including subcontractors, plant, and materials are available to deliver the work as planned.
  • Implement plan/programme by organising and managing resources including subcontractors, plant, and materials to deliver contracts to agreed targets and contractual KPIs.
  • You will build relationships both internally and externally. We encourage commercial and operational teams to work closely together to ensure the successful delivery of a contract.
  • Sense check site reporting and produce accurate reporting and implement corrective actions.
  • Be accountable and manage your own time so that you can visit site regularly to maintain productivity and be in the office to ensure procedures and reports are up to date.

What will I bring to the Contracts Manager role?

  • Experience in producing high standards of Health and Safety management through strong system controls and leadership by example.
  • Strong planning and organising skills to make workstreams are successful in delivery, resource and quality, while understanding cost and risk management.
  • Demonstrable experience in managing direct labour, you invest in your team and understand individuals’ capabilities, to maximise their potential, develop them and produce a high performing team.
  • Customer centric. Understands customers’ needs and consistently delivers in line with their expectations.
  • An SMSTS qualification with a sound working knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
  • A trade background (all trades considered to NVQ level 2 or equivalent) is preferred, but not essential.
