We are currently looking for an Apprentice Multi Trade Operative to join our award-winning apprenticeship scheme that could help you achieve your goals whilst also making a positive impact on other people\’s lives.

What’s the apprenticeship all about?

As an Apprentice at Ian Williams, you’ll get hands-on experience and learn on the job! You’ll combine college studies with practical learning to master your chosen trade. Plus, you’ll get to put your new skills into practice, supported by our experienced tradespeople – your own mentor.

What will you be doing?

Your work will vary from contract to contract, but here’s a taste of what you’ll be up to:

Being an apprentice Multi Trade Operative means that you won\’t specialise in one trade, rather you will work on jobs that come under a range of different trades to repair and maintain properties

Ripping out and preparing empty properties for new tenants

Planned and responsive repair work

You will gain an overview and basic understanding of multiple trades including carpentry, electrical, plastering and plumbing. You will not gain an apprenticeship in a single trade i.e. Carpentry but will become a qualified Multi Trade Operative instead.

Work both inside and outside in all weather, whether it’s boiling hot or freezing cold!

You’ll also:

Attend college to understand the “how and why” of your trade (usually 1 day a week)

Build an awesome portfolio of evidence for your End Point Assessment(EPA)

Be a valued team member and contribute to our overall success

What do you need to apply?

No prior experience needed! Just bring:

A genuine passion for hands-on work and getting involved in a number of different trades.

A positive attitude and problem-solving skills

Commitment to building your career at Ian Williams – we’re as committed to you as you are to us

Strong organisational skills (to juggle college and work)

GCSE (or equivalent) grade 3(D/E) or above in Maths and English

Eligibility to work in the UK on a permanent basis – we are unfortunately unable to sponsor visas at this time

Note: Although a driver’s licence isn’t required immediately, you’ll need to work towards getting one when you’re of age. It’s your responsibility to get to the site or an agreed pick-up location.

Whilst we try to be accommodating, interviews will be held on one day during this time and we cannot guarantee alternate dates. Proposed start date is August 2024.

We’ll only ask you to answer a few questions – no CV needed! So, spend some time crafting your answers based on the skills we’ve outlined above.

While we understand that AI tools can be helpful, we will be scoring based on your personal examples and direct experience. Generic answers won\’t score as highly.
