Key roles and responsibilities:
- Performing a variety of physical tests on soil, rock and aggregate samples to the highest level of safety and quality standards.
- Develop an understanding of the test methods and why samples are tested.
- Assisting in the calibration and maintenance of all technical equipment.
- Maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory environment.
- Ensuring the quality of work produced is to high standards and tested in a timely manner.
- Sample receipt, storage and disposal.
Required experience:
- 5+ GCSEs including English, Maths and Science.
- Previous experience in a geotechnical or materials testing lab.
- Good numeracy and literacy: able to write clearly and accurately.
- A good eye for detail, diligent in following procedures.
- Good IT skills, especially the use of MS Excel.
- There will be lots of manual handling involved in the role and will require moving heavy items on a frequent basis.
