Purpose of the role
The Supply Chain Scope 3 Manager is responsible for leading IAG's comprehensive approach to measuring, managing, and reducing Scope 3 carbon emissions across the supply chain. This role drives the implementation of robust carbon accounting methodologies, supplier engagement strategies, and science-based decarbonisation initiatives that support IAG's commitment to achieving net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050. Working closely with procurement teams and suppliers across all categories, this position ensures accurate emissions tracking, transparent reporting, and meaningful progress toward supplier decarbonisation targets.
Your responsibilities
- Scope 3 Carbon Accounting & Measurement
- Oversee end-to-end Scope 3 carbon accounting across all supply categories, ensuring comprehensive coverage and accuracy in emissions measurement.
- Develop and implement robust measurement methodologies aligned with GHG Protocol standards and industry best practices for supplier emissions tracking.
- Design and deploy data collection processes and systems to capture primary emissions data from suppliers across IAG's diverse procurement categories.
- Establish quality assurance frameworks to validate supply-provided emissions data and ensure consistency in calculation methodologies.
- Maintain and enhance carbon accounting models, incorporating emission factors, activity data, and supplier-specific information.
- Develop supplier engagement strategies to encourage and support emissions reduction activities across the supply chain.
- Create supplier-specific decarbonisation roadmaps identifying reduction opportunities, timelines, and resource requirements.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to integrate carbon reduction criteria into supplier selection, evaluation, and performance management processes.
- Track and report on supplier progress toward decarbonisation targets, identifying barriers and implementing intervention strategies where needed.
- Impact Assessment & Analysis
- Identify and prioritise high-impact sustainability interventions based on comprehensive carbon hotspot analysis across supply categories.
- Conduct category-level assessments to understand emissions intensity and identify opportunities for material carbon reductions.
- Develop business cases for sustainability investments, quantifying carbon reduction potential and return on investment.
- Support procurement teams in evaluating alternative products, services, and suppliers based on lifecycle environmental performance.
- Reporting & Stakeholder Management
- Prepare comprehensive Scope 3 emissions reports for internal stakeholders, regulatory bodies, and external sustainability platforms including CDP and EcoVadis.
- Contribute to IAG's annual sustainability reporting, ensuring accurate and transparent disclosure of supply chain emissions data.
- Present Scope 3 performance insights and recommendations to senior leadership, procurement teams, and Operating Company stakeholders.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers to facilitate data collection, share best practices, and drive collaborative decarbonisation initiatives.
- Represent IAG in industry forums and working groups focused on supply chain sustainability and Scope 3 emissions reduction.
- Utilise and optimise sustainability management platforms such as Watershed for Scope 3 data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Collaborate with IT and data analytics teams to enhance carbon accounting systems and automate data collection processes.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools for supply chain carbon management, recommending platform enhancements or new solutions as appropriate.
- Ensure data integrity and security across all carbon accounting systems and supplier data repositories.
- Compliance & Standards
- Maintain deep understanding of evolving Scope 3 reporting requirements under EU regulations, including CSRD and Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
- Ensure IAG's Scope 3 measurement and reporting practices comply with international standards.
- Support sustainability audits and verification processes related to supply chain emissions reporting.
- Monitor regulatory developments and assess implications for IAG's Scope 3 strategy and reporting obligations.
Your skills, experience and qualifications
- Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred.
- Professional certifications in carbon accounting or sustainability (e.g., GHG Protocol certification, Certified Carbon Reduction Manager).
- Skills
- Expert knowledge of carbon accounting methodologies, emission factors, and data quality assessment.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in data analysis and modelling.
- Advanced Excel skills; experience with data visualisation tools (Power BI, Tableau) preferred.

- Experience
- 5+ years of experience in carbon accounting, sustainability management, or environmental consulting, with specific focus on Scope 3 emissions.
- Demonstrated expertise in GHG Protocol Corporate Value Chain (Scope 3) Standard and its practical application.
- Proven track record of implementing Scope 3 measurement programmes in complex, multinational organisations.
- Experience working with diverse supplier bases to collect emissions data and drive decarbonisation initiatives.
- Background in life cycle assessment methodologies and carbon footprinting across product/service lifecycles.
- Experience using sustainability management platforms such as Watershed, EcoVadis, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of aviation industry supply chains and sustainability challenges advantageous.
- Understanding of EU sustainability regulations (CSRD, CBAM, Taxonomy) and their Scope 3 implications.
