Purpose of the Role
Identify, source, and manage equity investments for IAG’s seed to expansion stage investment programme. Lead individual venture capital deals through the stages of sourcing, creating investment proposals, carrying out due diligence to managing individual portfolio companies. Develop investment strategies, in partnership with the Head of Ventures, business units and IAG executives, that help bring IAG closer to disruptive and influential start-ups, while building a robust portfolio of diverse investments in the field of airline transformation and ecological sustainability.
Accountabilities
- Understand IAG's business as well as industry, competitive, disintermediation and sustainability trends, and the resulting opportunities for the CVC investment programme.
- Work in close collaboration with Head Ventures to develop investment strategies, target identification, source deals and build pipeline, develop investment thesis, present investments to IAGi Ventures Investment Committee, and manage the portfolio of investments.
- Represent IAGi Ventures in the venture capital and entrepreneurial community.
- Build credibility within the international VC, CVC and start-up network to identify new opportunities and build a network of trusted, top tier co-investors.
- Identify and connect all relevant internal stakeholders to garner broad deal support.
- Support, engage, and mentor portfolio companies founders to maximise each venture success.
- Regularly provide updates to board, executives, and key stakeholders on the overall health of the portfolio.
- Manage the deals database to accurately track all companies through their lifecycle.
- This role may require travel and working from multiple sites/locations. Willing and able to travel to participate in meetings, workshops, and other related activities.

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- 5+ years of previous venture capital, corporate development, corporate strategy, finance, or corporate finance experience.
- Experience of creating or reviewing business plans and strategy at an organisation/company level.
- Experience of business process (including technology and financial management etc.).
- Experience in research and due diligence preparation – strong research and analytical skills, particularly in venture capital investing or corporate M&A.
- Experience in a Private Equity, Venture Capital, Corporate VC or M&A would be a benefit.
- Understanding of all aspects relating to equity investment in either early stage or later stage investing is required as is demonstrable expertise in and knowledge of key emerging technology sectors and an understanding of the technology transfer and IP commercialisation process.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
- Strong awareness of key drivers in the external market and ability to think widely about how to source information.
- Strong personal ownership for driving performance and exceeding targets.
- Relevant degree or MBA is desirable.
- Spoken and written business in English is required, in Spanish would be desirable. Any other second language also a plus.
- Experience of investing in partnership with business angels, Institutional Investors, and corporate venture funds would be a benefit.
