We are hiring a senior technical leader to set the technical direction, discipline and delivery velocity for IAG’s next generation of agentic AI products. The role requires proven experience building production‑grade AI agents, leading mixed internal and partner teams, and shaping a multi‑vendor agent ecosystem across OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure, LangGraph, AutoGen and emerging frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Technical Ownership
    • Define the agentic architecture strategy, including orchestration patterns, tool integration, memory and runtime governance.
    • Drive reusable agent component creation and adoption across all operating companies.
    • Make architecture decisions on model selection, GraphRAG, RAG optimisation, LangGraph patterns and cost modelling.
  • Engineering Leadership
    • Lead and mentor a small multidisciplinary technical team building enterprise‑grade AI agents integrated with complex airline systems.
    • Establish best practices for OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI, LangGraph, AutoGen and other frameworks.
    • Implement engineering discipline: observability, safety, automated evaluation, behavioural testing and continuous improvement.
  • Matrix and Partner Leadership
    • Operate effectively across Group, OpCos, cloud, data and security teams.
    • Coordinate delivery streams, align stakeholders, and maintain consistent engineering standards.
    • Manage external partners to meet quality, cost and velocity expectations.
  • Platform and Architecture Leadership
    • Shape the Group’s lightweight GenAI abstraction layer for fast, secure deployment.
    • Own agile technical governance, architecture documentation and risk escalation.
    • Monitor AI evolution and benchmark vendor capabilities.
  • Product and Delivery Impact
    • Collaborate with product leads to align technical designs with measurable EBIT impact.
    • Identify quick‑start approaches that release value early.
    • Build a developer experience that encourages rapid adoption of AI components across the Group.
  • Stakeholder Influence
    • Build relationships with all airlines and influence at senior executive levels (CDIO‑1, Group CTO, CDAO, CISO).
    • Support Group‑wide AI upskilling via the AI Academy curriculum.

Qualifications, Experience & Qualities

  • 15+ years of engineering leadership delivering complex software systems at scale.
  • Direct experience architecting and delivering production AI agents with measurable business impact.
  • Deep technical expertise in the OpenAI ecosystem, including model orchestration, tool calling, evaluation and runtime optimisation.
  • Experience with Anthropic, Azure OpenAI and at least one other framework (LangGraph or AutoGen).
  • Proven ability to lead internal engineering teams and external partner teams.
  • Strong track record operating in a matrix environment and aligning diverse stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Demonstrated integration of LLM‑based agents with enterprise systems, APIs, RPA, orchestration platforms and internal tools.
  • Grounding in DevSecOps, cloud‑native architecture, observability and CI/CD.
  • Strong communication skills; able to translate complex technical concepts to senior executives.
  • Experience with high‑stakes, fast‑paced environments and ambiguous challenges.
  • Willingness to travel internally within Europe on a weekly basis as required.

  • Experience with model hosting, fine‑tuning, distillation or evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience with globally distributed teams and multi‑vendor delivery ecosystems.
