About The Role
The Test Manager is accountable for quality outcomes across delivery, ensuring solutions are tested right first time and released with confidence. The role plays a key part in evolving testing maturity across IAG Cargo moving from predominantly manual testing to automated and increasingly autonomous testing, in partnership with delivery teams and strategic suppliers. Success is achieved through collaboration, influence, and capability uplift, taking stakeholders and teams on the journey rather than imposing change.
What You’ll Do
- Quality Ownership & Planning: Own the end-to-end testing approach for assigned initiatives, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and delivered right first time. Define and maintain risk-based test strategies and plans, aligned to business processes, delivery milestones, and quality outcomes. Surface and manage quality risks and dependencies early, working with delivery leadership to mitigate impact.
- Testing Maturity & Automation: Champion an automation-first testing mindset, ensuring manual testing is used deliberately and automation is applied where it delivers the most value. Support teams on the testing maturity journey from manual to automated and increasingly autonomous testing. Work collaboratively with engineers and partners to increase automation coverage, reduce repetitive effort, and improve feedback cycles.
- Delivery Execution & Readiness: Plan and coordinate end-to-end test execution, including UAT, regression, integration, and B2B testing where required. Ensure test readiness across environments, data, tooling, and capability. Own the defect lifecycle, ensuring issues are prioritised, resolved, retested, and learned from. Provide clear insight into release readiness, enabling confident go-live decisions.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Confidence: Build strong, trusted relationships across business, technology, and supplier teams. Act as a quality and automation advocate, translating test outcomes into clear, decision-ready insight. Influence and bring stakeholders on the journey through collaboration, coaching, and transparency.
- Governance & Continuous Improvement: Ensure adherence to IAG Cargo standards, governance, and ways of working. Use metrics, feedback, and retrospectives to continuously improve testing effectiveness, maturity, and efficiency.
It’s All About You
Skills & Behaviours: Proven experience owning end-to-end testing outcomes in complex delivery environments. Strong understanding of test automation and modern testing practices, with experience supporting teams through maturity change. Ability to translate business processes into effective test strategies. Structured, risk-based approach with strong analytical and reporting capability. Confident communicator able to influence, coach, and provide constructive challenge. Collaborative, resilient, and outcome-focused. Passion for quality, automation, and continuous improvement. Proven stakeholder and people management capability.
Qualifications: Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience. ISTQB (or equivalent) Test Management certification.
Experience
- Essential: Software testing experience supporting business-critical change. Experience working within a multi-vendor delivery model. Supplier and stakeholder management experience. Strong understanding of the delivery lifecycle and automation adoption. Risk and issue management experience.
- Desirable: Logistics, Freight, or Courier industry experience. Experience supporting major technology transformation programmes. Experience working across multiple countries and cultures.
