About the role

The Performance Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the systems and processes in the area are effective and fit for purpose. Key priorities for this position will be to develop performance analytics metrics and to lead performance-oriented analysis that identifies root causes of performance issues, with focus on operational performance. They will be responsible for driving through department’s performance by monitoring and developing measures and will take accountability for forward planning in the operation. They will support briefings on shift to deliver the operational plan to drive robust and consistent performance. Serving as a champion of all systems and processes, as well as supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the department.

What you’ll do:

  • Actively supporting the Department Head through supporting strategic planning and by leading and developing the data and planning functions within the department.
  • Ensuring continual review and enhancement of the operating procedures and policies in the operation to reflect efficient productivity.
  • Reading, analysing, and interpreting performance data, to identify key themes and continuous improvement opportunities. Working with the Continuous Improvement team to ensure systems and processes are cost effective and fit for purpose.
  • Driving performance improvement through monitoring/development of measures and performance metrics.
  • Identifying, developing, and tracking required work plans to improve department’s operational performance.
  • Ensuring the business is adequately resourced, addressing any daily shortfalls, and reviewing resourcing ahead of time, as well as actively participating in recruitment campaigns.
  • Managing communication between the Department Manager, Cargo Planning Managers and Operation Managers to effectively manage forward planning of all activities.
  • Working co-operatively and building productive relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Engaging and maintaining relationship with the Performance Analytics, DIOR and Project Management teams to ensure data availability in performance improvement projects.
  • Delivering of IAG Cargo’s operating procedures at a local level to ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Security legislation.
  • Pro-actively managing their area of the business and looking ahead at potential risks, whilst looking at additional measures to help support any disruption.
  • Coaching, supporting, and performance managing Team Leaders, with regular 1-1 meetings.
  • Supporting and driving the delivery of performance standards, ensuring key performance indicators are in place and productivity goals are met.
  • Managing data within multiple systems, ensuring a high level of customer service delivery and proactive customer recovery.
  • Supporting and taking accountability for delivery of key assigned Transformation projects, delegating where necessary.
  • Deputise for Department Manager.
  • Driving efficacy of departmental systems and measures.

What you’ll bring to IAG Cargo:

  • Proven supervisory/management skills within a fast-moving operational environment.
  • People and stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to interface professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experienced in Microsoft office tools particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Fluency in warehouse management systems and EDI systems.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under sustained pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Operational understanding of requirements of process areas.
  • Ability to make constructive assessments based on facts, analysis and relevant experience, balanced with insightful investigative approach.

  • Ability to translate strategy into operational delivery.
  • Resilience and an emphasis on solution seeking with the ability to influence, challenge, build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to challenge Status Quo and initiate performance improvement projects.
  • Methodical approach with excellent planning and organisation skills in order to achieve the various responsibilities and work concurrently on multiple tasks.
  • Management experience at an operational level and proven ability to deliver change.
  • Ability to recognise opportunities and manage change including problem solving/decision making skills.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in fast moving operational environment.
