About The Role
The Director of Solution Delivery at IAG Cargo is a senior technology leadership role accountable for translating technology strategy into high‑quality, secure, and measurable delivery outcomes that enable the organisation’s commercial, operational, and customer experience ambitions. Working in close partnership with Enterprise Architecture, the role ensures that technology vision and target architectures are converted into sequenced, affordable, and achievable delivery roadmaps aligned to the Group’s wider technology strategy. As a key member of the Digital and Information Technology Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Solution Delivery provides end‑to‑end accountability for the delivery of technology solutions across systems, platforms, data, and automation. The role leads software engineering, quality assurance, and DevOps capabilities, owns strategic delivery partners and business technology relationships, and drives digital transformation across the cargo business to improve efficiency, support revenue growth, and strengthen IAG Cargo’s competitive advantage in the global air cargo market.
What You’ll Do
- Strategy and Execution: Work in partnership with the Head of Enterprise Architecture to define technology strategy and delivery roadmaps, ensuring target architectures are translated into sequenced, affordable, and achievable delivery plans.
- Portfolio, Roadmap and Investment Management: Own the integrated solution delivery portfolio and roadmap, balancing strategic transformation initiatives, business demand, technical debt reduction, and mandatory or regulatory change.
- End‑to‑End Solution Delivery: Provide overall accountability for the delivery of all technology solutions, ensuring outcomes are achieved within agreed time, cost, quality, and value parameters.
- Third‑Party Delivery Management: Own and manage strategic relationships with delivery partners and systems integrators, ensuring alignment to enterprise architecture, delivery standards, commercial objectives, and performance expectations.
- Business Relationship Management: Lead the business relationship management function, shaping and prioritising demand to ensure business requirements are clearly defined, achievable, and aligned to strategic objectives.
- Software Engineering, Quality Assurance and DevOps: Own software engineering, quality assurance, and DevOps capabilities, establishing strong engineering and testing standards and driving the continuous improvement of secure, reliable, and automated DevOps and CI/CD practices across pro‑code, low‑code, and automation platforms.
- Architectural Alignment and Governance: Ensure all technology solutions comply with enterprise architecture standards and co‑lead solution governance forums to actively manage architectural and technical debt.
- Operational Stability and Change Management: Ensure technology solutions transition safely into live service, minimising delivery‑related operational risk and protecting service stability.
- Leadership, Capability and Culture: Lead the solution delivery organisation, including Heads of Technology and project and product teams, with accountability for capability development, performance management, and succession planning, building a high‑performing culture.
- Security and Integrity: Ensure the security and integrity of all technology solution deployments in line with IAG Cargo cyber security standards and policies.
- Financial Management: Own technology delivery budgets and project finances, ensuring effective financial control, forecasting, and value for money.
- Value and Benefits Realisation: Drive improved return on investment through standardised delivery processes, effective sourcing models, disciplined risk management, and increased speed and quality of delivery.

Essential Experience
- Significant senior level experience delivering complex, large scale technology solutions in a complex organisational environment.
- Proven track record of end‑to‑end delivery accountability across time, cost, quality, and business value.
- Demonstrable experience leading software engineering, quality assurance, and DevOps teams.
- Proven experience operating Agile, product based, and/or hybrid delivery models at scale.
- Demonstrable experience managing delivery portfolios, roadmaps, and dependencies across multiple teams and initiatives.
- Proven experience managing strategic Third‑Party delivery partners and systems integrators.
- Strong experience of senior stakeholder management, including influencing and negotiating with executive level business leaders.
- Demonstrable experience owning and managing technology delivery budgets and investment decisions.
- Experience delivering change in environments with strong governance, security, and risk management requirements.
- Experience working in partnership with Enterprise Architecture or an equivalent strategic design authority.
Desirable Experience
- Experience working within aviation, logistics, freight, transport, or other safety critical or highly regulated industries.
- Experience delivering large scale digital transformation or platform modernisation programmes.
- Experience working within a group or federated technology operating model.
- Experience embedding DevOps, CI/CD, or automation capabilities across multiple teams or domains.

- Strong understanding of modern technology landscapes, including applications, platforms, data, integration, and automation.
- Deep understanding of software engineering principles, including quality assurance, test automation, and secure by design practices.
- Proven ability to lead and embed DevOps ways of working, including CI/CD pipelines and delivery automation, to enable reliable and repeatable delivery at pace.
- Ability to operate effectively across pro code, low code, and automation technologies with appropriate governance and controls.
- Strong portfolio, roadmap, and dependency management capability, maintaining a holistic, end‑to‑end view of delivery.
- Demonstrates strong commercial and financial management skills, including budget control, forecasting, and value for money decision making.
- Proven ability to prioritise delivery across multiple teams and initiatives in line with overall business strategy and capacity.
- Strong Third‑Party and supplier management capability, including performance management and commercial accountability.

- Strong risk, issue, and dependency management skills, with the ability to balance speed, quality, and control.
