Our client is a high profile top 10 accounting firm that works with a combination of FTSE, PE owned clients and other regulated entities. Our client has a reputation for personal service that is reinforced by a higher commitment of Partners and Director hours devoted to each individual client than competitors. The firm and now need to enhance the existing Partner group with the additional of an expert risk and controls specialist. This individual will take responsibility for an existing client portfolio but focus on the continued growth of that business service line.
Lead the growth of the risk advisory practice as both the client relationship lead and technical expert. Manage the risk advisory team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of complex risk, control and audit activities at clients’ sites in accordance with the firm’s Standards.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and grow an agreed client portfolio with a national remit.
- Build relationships with new clients and identify/act upon all potential additional work opportunities at new clients or new work at potential clients.
- Lead business development and growth initiatives of the practice through attendance at tender presentations, networking events and face to face meetings.
- Lead a profitable risk advisory team to ensure effective delivery of services, including mapping complex scheduling to optimise profitability.
- Represent the Firm in audit matters as required, including attendance at client meetings and Audit Committees, and other forums as deemed appropriate.
- Lead the team as it prepares tenders and presents these to win work.
- Assist in the building of the discipline and ensuring the team delivers exceptional client service.
- Ensure the effective planning and utilisation of team members in line with the approved budget.
- Monitor the effectiveness and quality of work through undertaking effective Partner review of the work.
- Engage with the client billing in accordance with the Firm’s billing timescales, providing solutions to all potential adverse issues that may impact on the achievement of the agreed client billing and recovery targets.
- Monitor target recoveries and work with the other Partners in line with the approved budget to ensure that these are achieved and to assist in the maintenance of the contract monitoring system for those clients.
- Deal with day-to-day team matters, including feedback on performance on the job, assist in PDRs and where relevant the recruitment process, team welfare and H&S.
- Develop and retain talented people through strong leadership and coaching/mentoring relationships.
The preferred candidate is likely to have operated at a Director level (or above) in a large consultancy firm but may currently be working \”in-house\” with a FTSE 100/FTSE 250 corporate if they can demonstrate a previous track record of successful business development. Individuals may have gained their experience in the broad range of industries but some experience in highly regulated industries will be important. This person must demonstrate the ability to deliver exceptional service and the ability to grow the firm’s presence in the markets.
