The predicted salary is between 30000 - 42000 Β£ per year.
We are looking for a technician to join our friendly and supportive team at our site in St Albans with a focus on delivering the service our customers have come to expect. We specialise in the replacement of major units and components on modern cars and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) and have a large customer base including many of the largest insurance fleet and lease companies in the country. The majority of our work is engine replacements on vehicles under 7 years old.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
- The repair and maintenance of modern cars and light commercial vehicles
- Confirming / diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults with vehicles
- Replacement of major unit components such as engines, gearboxes, fuel systems and turbos
- Conducting vehicle health (safety) checks and performing routine maintenance of vehicles
- Carrying out road testing and final vehicle checks before signing off repairs as complete
- Working as part of a team liaising with the workshop manager as jobs progress and supporting the sales team with the technical information required to gain approval for repairs, such as diagnosing the root cause of a component failure
- Ensuring good working practices, following Health & Safety guidelines at all times
The Ideal candidate:
- NVQ Level 3 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or equivalent qualification
- Experience carrying out repair and replacement of major units such as engines, cylinder head injection systems and turbos
- Experience working on modern light commercials and passenger cars
- Experience stripping engines to diagnose faults
- You must have your own tools
- A full UK driving licence
- F Gas qualification
- Level 3 Electric / Hybrid vehicle system repair and replacement qualification
- Diagnostic experience, both mechanical & electrical
- GCSE English and Mathematics qualifications to a grade C-4 or equivalent
- Positive 'Can Do' attitude
- Good housekeeping skills. Maintaining a clean and safe working environment at all times
