About the Company

A Norwich based precision engineering business that manufactures detailed machined components and products for a variety of industries including Aerospace, Motor-sport and Oil & Gas from customer requirements, is looking for an Engineering Estimator. This is a key role within the business that requires an experienced candidate with a history of precision engineering / manufacturing.

Main Duties of Manufacturing Engineering Estimator

  • Creating quotes for specialised machining parts ranging from 1 off bespoke solutions to high volume products.
  • Identifying the method of manufacture for complex parts from the issue of raw materials through to complete production.
  • Calculation of all subcontract methods which may include Welding / Fabrication, Paint, and Special processes such as anodising, heat treatment, testing etc.
  • Raise purchase orders for material.
  • Identifying ways to standardise the quotation process to improve speed of production and accurate repetition.
  • Providing support to production to ensure products are manufactured to appropriate standards and in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Advising the appropriate processes for the manufacture of new products, providing technical support to the end customer
  • Maintaining knowledge of current industry trends, techniques and equipment to ensure continuing competitiveness within the market.

Requirements of successful applicant

  • HNC/HND or strong technical background within engineering / manufacturing
  • Strong knowledge around machining (CNC & Manual) (3 Axis & 2 Axis)
  • Ability to identify a method of manufacture working from an engineering drawing or CAD Model.
  • Ability to calculate cycle times, manning hours etc.
  • Previous knowledge of planning – taking into consideration of machining capacity
  • Good knowledge of tooling, jigs and fixtures
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and work from CAD models
