We help public sector organisations unlock the full potential of data and AI – to streamline operations, reduce manual effort, and drive smarter decisions. We review, select, set up and support their data and AI tools. We specialise in public sector-specific requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead technology audits and review as-is data architecture.
- Design data architecture solutions for our clients considering all options available.
- Be a go-to specialist for ensuring we are setting up scalable solutions and developing best practice.
- Review, evaluate and create data governance frameworks and data quality control solutions.
- Present and communicate processes, insights and findings to colleagues and clients.
- Produce answers in days, not months, and work by exploratory analysis and rapid iteration.
- Guide and mentor data engineers, review their work and ensure it meets i3Data’s quality standards.
- Share knowledge with the wider team so that we can improve the way we work with our clients.
We are Bristol based but we work flexibly based on our client needs, this can often mean working from home but can also mean travel to our client's offices.
What we need from you:
- Public sector experience, ideally with organisations such as HMRC, Home Office, MoD.
- Security clearance or prepared to complete a security clearance process.
- Demonstrable experience from working in data architect roles.
- Significant experience working with large datasets and multiple data feeds.
- Confident in data ELT/ETL, data cleansing, modelling and data visualisation.
- Experienced working with Azure and the Microsoft stack.
- Confident developer of Python and SQL solutions.
- Significant experience with data warehouse/lakehouse technologies such as Databricks/Fabric.
- Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, presentation, written, listening and verbal communication skills.
- Ideally hold a degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proficient in using source control systems (e.g. Git) to manage code, collaborate on development, and follow professional branching and versioning workflows.
- A deep understanding of data architecture best-practice (e.g. robust data pipelines, security and networking, handling of sensitive data).
- Experience collaborating with clients to understand business requirements and design effective, scalable data solutions tailored to their needs.
This is NOT an entry-level role; we need someone who has made loads of mistakes, so that they can share their experiences with others.
For the right candidate, we offer a super exciting role in a fast-growing public sector data consulting firm. Want variety? You got it - we work across multiple technology, clients and locations. Want training? You got it - we love developing people and nurturing talent. Want time out? You got it - we offer 25 days holiday.
