A global insurance organization is seeking an experienced Lead Product Designer to join its expanding Digital Design team in London. This is a hands‑on, design‑focused role leading on the creation of innovative, user‑centred digital experiences across complex business ecosystems.
The successful candidate will act as a design lead and mentor, shaping design strategy, elevating design quality, and supporting junior designers—though there is no direct team management initially.
This position offers the opportunity to influence global design standards while collaborating with cross‑functional teams across the UK, US, and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the lead designer on complex digital projects, setting and maintaining high standards of UX and visual design.
- Mentor and coach less experienced designers, supporting their professional growth and design delivery.
- Apply a hands‑on, design‑led approach across research, ideation, prototyping, testing, and delivery.
Key Criteria
- Experience operating at a Lead or Principal level within digital product design.
- Proven track record of mentoring or leading small design teams.
- Strong hands‑on experience in digital UX/UI design, underpinned by sound design principles and methodologies.
- Demonstrable ability to explain and justify design approaches clearly and confidently.
- Excellent organisational skills, with experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must possess a current, reviewable design portfolio showcasing process, principles, and impact.
- Willingness to undertake ad hoc international travel (approximately twice a year to the US and Europe).
