London | Hybrid β 3 days per week in the office
Are you an experienced Data, Analytics or Actuarial professional with a strong understanding of the insurance market and a passion for turning data into meaningful business insight?
I'm currently working with a leading global insurance business that is looking to hire a Data Insights Lead into its Reserving function in London.
This is a newly focused opportunity within a team that is looking to take its use of data and analytics to the next level. You'll be working closely with senior stakeholders across Reserving, Actuarial, Finance, Claims, Underwriting and Data & Analytics, helping them get more value from the data they already have while introducing new and smarter ways of working.
What will you be doing?
You'll take ownership of the analytics agenda for Reserving, acting as the link between the business and technical teams.
A big part of the role will be understanding what the Reserving team actually needs from its data, then turning those requirements into practical solutions β whether that's a new dashboard, an improved dataset, automated reporting or a completely new way of analysing performance.
You'll be looking at questions such as:
- What are the key movements in the portfolio and what is driving them?
- Where are we seeing emerging claims or loss trends?
- How can we make reserving analysis quicker and less reliant on manual processes?
- How can we give actuaries and senior stakeholders better visibility of the information they need?
- Where could automation, advanced analytics or AI improve the way the team works?
You'll also have plenty of opportunity to influence the wider analytics strategy, rather than simply delivering against a predefined list of requirements.
What are we looking for?
This role could suit someone coming from a number of different backgrounds. You might currently be working in insurance analytics, actuarial, reserving, data analytics, finance or a similar data-focused role.
What's particularly important is that you understand the insurance data landscape and are comfortable translating business problems into data-driven solutions.
We'd be interested in speaking with you if you have:
- Experience working with insurance or reinsurance data.
- A good understanding of claims, exposure, premium, policy or actuarial data.
- Experience developing Power BI dashboards or similar analytics products.
- A track record of improving reporting, analytics or data processes for business users.
- The ability to work confidently with senior stakeholders and technical teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate findings clearly.
- An interest in how AI and modern analytics can be applied within insurance.
- Ideally, exposure to areas such as reserving, loss development, PYD, AvE, claims analysis or actuarial reporting.
You don't necessarily need to come from a pure actuarial background. We're particularly interested in people who understand the commercial and analytical side of insurance and can bridge the gap between data and the people making decisions from it.
Why consider it?
This is a chance to join a well-established global insurance business at a point where it is investing in how it uses data, analytics and technology within Reserving.
Youβll have genuine ownership, visibility with senior stakeholders and the opportunity to build solutions that will have a tangible impact on how the function operates.
If you're someone who gets frustrated by manual reporting, enjoys finding better ways of doing things and likes seeing your analysis actually influence business decisions, this could be an excellent fit.
