As we expand our reach across the UK, we are looking for a driven Business Development Representative to join our small but ambitious sales and marketing team.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Reporting into the Sales and Marketing function, the Business Development Representative (BDR) will play a pivotal role in driving new business growth. You will be responsible for identifying and engaging prospective housing association and local authority clients, nurturing relationships, and creating qualified opportunities for the wider sales team. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify and research prospective clients within the social housing sector, including housing associations, local authorities, and registered providers.
- Generate new business leads through outbound outreach, including cold calling, email campaigns, LinkedIn, and attendance at sector events and conferences.
- Qualify inbound and outbound leads, booking discovery calls and meetings for senior members of the sales team.
- Build and maintain a robust pipeline in the CRM system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records of all prospect interactions.
- Develop a thorough understanding of iOpt’s sensor solutions and the challenges they solve for housing providers.
- Collaborate closely with the marketing team to support campaign activity, follow up on leads generated, and provide market feedback.
- Represent iOpt at industry events, exhibitions, and networking opportunities to raise brand awareness.
- Support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and tender responses as required.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and sector developments to inform business development strategy.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- Proven experience in a business development, sales, or account management role, ideally within a B2B environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.
- Self-motivated with a proactive, results-driven approach to work.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, small-team environment where initiative is valued.
- Proficiency in CRM tools and Microsoft Office/365.
Desirable:
- Experience in or knowledge of the social housing, property, or built environment sectors.
- Familiarity with IoT, sensor technology and solutions.
- Experience working alongside a marketing function on lead generation campaigns.
