I Need Staff Today Limited, a recruitment agency based in Codsall, is recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced and organised Service Scheduler to join their team. The Role
As a Service Scheduler, you will be responsible for coordinating engineer call-outs and service visits for commercial vehicle customers across the UK. You will plan engineer workloads, schedule service appointments, and help ensure customer issues are resolved within agreed service levels. This role requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities throughout the working day.
Key Responsibilities
- Schedule and dispatch field service engineers to customer locations across the UK.
- Plan engineer workloads efficiently, considering location, skills, availability, and customer requirements.
- Respond to service requests and breakdowns, ensuring work is prioritised appropriately.
- Liaise with customers, fleet operators, transport managers, and drivers to arrange appointments and provide updates.
- Monitor engineer progress and adjust schedules as required to accommodate delays, emergencies, and additional work.
- Support the achievement of agreed service levels and customer expectations.
- Create and manage service jobs using internal scheduling systems.
- Maintain accurate records of appointments, engineer attendance, parts requirements, and customer communications.
- Work closely with engineers, technical teams, warehouse staff, and management to support successful job completion.
- Escalate service-related issues where appropriate.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a scheduling, planning, dispatch, service coordination, or administrative role.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.
- Excellent telephone manner and written communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and manage a high volume of work in a busy environment.
- Experience using service management systems such as BigChange, Sage, or similar platforms would be advantageous.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
