About the Role
We are I Need Staff Today Limited, a recruitment agency, and we are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join our client's team in Wolverhampton. The successful candidate will take full responsibility for managing the day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate accounts for multiple entities, and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements. You will play a key role in financial planning, cash flow management, and business support, working closely with directors and senior managers to provide timely and insightful financial information to drive informed decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee bookkeeping and company accounts for multiple entities.
- Prepare and present monthly financial statements, balance sheet reconciliations, and forecast projections.
- Manage cash flow and monitor company banking and payment systems.
- Complete and submit VAT returns and fuel duty returns to HMRC, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Liaise with external accountants and auditors to resolve any queries.
- Support payroll processes, ensuring all payments, reconciliations, and HMRC submissions are completed on time.
- Provide financial support to senior management, including budget forecasting, data analysis, and variance reporting.
- Maintain and enhance financial systems (e.g. Sage, Xero, Excel, Oracle, Agresso, Business Objects, QlikView).
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, corporate governance, and accounting standards.
About You
- Minimum of 5 years experience in a financial management or controller role.
- Proven ability to manage multi-entity accounting and reporting.
- Experience with VAT returns and dealing with HMRC queries.
- Strong IT and systems knowledge, including Sage, Xero, and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
- Professional qualification (AAT, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.
- A motivated self-starter with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
