About the Opportunity

I Need Staff Today Limited, a recruitment agency based in Codsall, is recruiting on behalf of our client, a growing renewable energy business operating throughout the West Midlands. Our client is seeking an experienced Solar PV & Battery Installer / Team Leader to join their expanding team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled installer who is passionate about renewable energy and is ready to take on greater responsibility by leading installation teams, supporting workforce development, and helping to improve operational efficiency. This is a hands-on position suited to someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality installations while maintaining excellent health and safety standards and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install domestic and commercial Solar PV systems to a high standard
  • Install battery storage systems and associated equipment
  • Lead and coordinate installation teams on site
  • Ensure installations are completed safely, efficiently, and professionally
  • Support, mentor, and develop junior installers and apprentices
  • Carry out commissioning, testing, fault-finding, and basic diagnostics where required
  • Maintain compliance with relevant electrical regulations and health & safety requirements
  • Complete job documentation accurately and on time
  • Liaise professionally with customers, site managers, tenants, and office personnel
  • Contribute to improving installation quality, productivity, and operational efficiency
  • Assist in reducing installation delays, rework, and customer callbacks

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience installing Solar PV systems
  • Experience installing battery storage systems
  • Good understanding of domestic electrical systems
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to work at height and carry out physically demanding work
  • Professional, reliable, and proactive approach to work
  • Ability to lead teams effectively and maintain high standards under pressure

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation or equivalent
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • ECS or CSCS Card
  • Inspection & Testing Qualification (2391 or equivalent)
  • Experience commissioning hybrid inverter systems
  • Experience with Tesla, Solis, SolarEdge, FoxESS, SIG Energy, or similar systems
  • IPAF and/or PASMA certification
  • First Aid at Work qualification
  • Experience working on residential new-build developments
  • Previous supervisory, mentoring, or team leadership experience
