This challenging and exciting opportunity requires an individual with a strong technical design background and demonstrable experience from a consultancy or contractor. The successful candidate will take responsibility for producing designs within the piling, foundations, or ground improvement sector.

The client is looking to appoint a Geotechnical Design Engineer to deliver designs for a wide variety of piling projects and scopes of work.

The Role

• Understand and deliver the client\’s requirements and liaise with clients and main contractors to optimise engineering solutions.
• Ensure the appropriate selection of piling technique for the ground conditions.
• Undertake geotechnical analysis using in‑house and commercial software in accordance with relevant codes of practice, prepare reports for submittal to clients, and respond to technical queries during the contract lifecycle.
• Prepare settlement packs for review by the business at meetings.
• Create contract design documents, drawings and schedules.
• Apply an awareness of risk, including H&S and commercial aspects.
• Liaise and provide technical support to the operation team during installation.
• Produce as‑built documentation post‑construction.
• Develop and maintain harmonious client relationships.
• Work collaboratively with other business units to achieve shared goals.

The Person

• Eligible to work unassisted in the UK; sponsorship is not available.
• Experience in designing with software such as Plaxis 3D.
• Piling or ground improvement design experience across a range of techniques, values and complexities.
• Ability to work independently and communicate complex technical matters clearly in writing and verbally.
• Enthusiastic, results‑focused, able to work well under pressure and meet stringent deadlines.
• Effective negotiation skills with internal and external clients and teams.
