The predicted salary is between 36000 - 60000 ÂŁ per year.

The successful candidate will have at least five years relevant experience from the utilities, infrastructure, civil engineering, building services or M&E sectors and must hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel when needed. This is a hybrid role, with office, home working and site visits as required. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the main purpose of this role is to ensure commercial and contractual control and co‑ordination across multiple complex projects.

The Role

  • Analysis of ongoing and completed works (feedback, costs, budgets, cashflow, WIP and value)
  • Assist in the commercial delivery and management of contracts
  • Assist with contract correspondence packages
  • Use, update and maintain the company’s commercial management systems and bespoke packages to capture and report financial activities of projects
  • Assist the commercial team on valuing works completed and reporting to management
  • Produce, submit and agree with the client on weekly and monthly payment applications and other commercial reports as required
  • Record project completions
  • Ensure wages and sub‑contract payments are calculated and paid accurately
  • Maintain minimum working capital for projects
  • Maintain and keep contract files up to date
  • Accurately record project completions from site information and system reports
  • Input and collate weekly cost information for profit and loss reports
  • Assist in the production of month‑end reconciliations (CVRs)
  • Conduct one‑off commercial exercises and analysis as required
  • Help develop the supply‑chain and sub‑contractor partnering process to improve terms and SLAs, if necessary
  • Ensure high levels of teamwork and cohesion between all staff levels

The Person

  • Educated to degree or HND level in quantity surveying or construction commercial management, with proven experience in a similar role in the utilities, civil engineering, infrastructure, M&E or building services sectors
  • Advanced understanding of working with NEC or JCT contract forms
  • Ability to apply quantity surveying principles to multiple simultaneous projects at different stages
  • Working knowledge of basic plant, equipment and materials
  • Knowledge of procurement and general sub‑contracting principles, and ability to draft and administer sub‑contracts
  • Ability to implement procedures to quantify and cost construction works using appropriate measurement methods
  • Proficiency in administration, communication, reporting, numeracy, IT and MS Office
  • Ability to build effective relationships at all levels internally and externally
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Enthusiastic and results‑focused, able to work well under pressure and meet demanding deadlines
  • Effective negotiation skills with both internal and external clients and teams
