Fast-growing, ambitious consumer products brand is seeking a strategic, process-driven operations leader with a passion for efficiency and problem-solving. As Head of Operations / Operations Director you will oversee the efficient product delivery to retailers and distributors while optimising systems, processes, maintaining supplier compliance, and managing all stakeholder engagement, within budget and SLA requirements.
This role requires a hands-on, assertive and highly organised leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and remains calm under pressure. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with an eye for efficiency, strong communication skills, and the ability to build effective relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Key responsibilities:
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the sales team, establishing trust and ownership of operational processes while providing logical and solutions-focused support.
- Review retailer supplier manuals, identifying any non-standard terms and raising them with the sales team for negotiation and final approval where necessary.
- Ensure all stakeholders understand and comply with retailer requirements, including booking-in procedures.
- Work closely with the Buying Manager to stay up to date with production schedules, product completion dates, and shipping timelines.
- Communicate proactively with warehouses to ensure they are fully prepared for incoming stock volumes and delivery schedules.
- Act as the main point of contact for warehousing (UK and USA) – travelling to the US (more in the initial period) to work with the US warehouse team; problem-solving and optimising processes across UK and US operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges, analysing errors and implementing preventative measures to improve efficiency.
- Standardise systems and procedures across the global operation to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Continuously identify and implement process improvements to increase accuracy, reduce costs, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Monitor and enforce SLAs with warehouses and third-party logistics providers, ensuring they meet performance expectations and remain within budget.
- Work closely with the Finance Director on budgeting and cost analysis for operational improvements.
- Managing 3 direct reports (2 x Warehouse Managers and 1 x Operations Exec).
About you:
- 5+ years of operations experience within a consumer product environment.
- Ability to travel to the USA.
- Strong understanding of supplying to major retailers and the ability to interpret and implement Supplier Manual requirements.
- Proven experience managing warehouse relationships (not necessarily working as a Warehouse Manager yourself) ensuring they meet SLAs and budget targets.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure, prioritising key actions to resolve issues efficiently.
- A rational problem solver, focused on preventing future issues rather than assigning blame.
- A keen eye for identifying inefficiencies and driving operational improvements.
- Strong communication skills to ensure clear, consistent messaging across teams and external partners.
- Passion for creating and implementing structured processes to improve operational performance.
If you are a process-driven operations leader with a passion for efficiency and problem-solving, who is looking for collaborative and dynamic team environment with a focus on efficiency and innovation – we’d love to hear from you!
