Transport Support Services Manager (Interim) Location: Time Square, RG12 1JD Start date: ASAP Contract duration: 3+ Months Working hours: Mon – Fri, 07:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours Per week Pay rate: £30.50 per hour Job Ref: (phone number removed) Responsibilities Lead the Council’s Education Transport and Fleet Management Services to ensure compliant, safe, efficient, and effective delivery of services to both internal and external customers. Drive the decarbonisation of the Council’s fleet and purchased transport solutions for other clients. Develop and implement policies and processes for transport and fleet services to ensure statutory responsibilities are met, using a person-centred approach, and manage budget pressures effectively. Manage the Education Transport and Fleet Management teams to deliver transport provision, including statutory responsibilities for home to school transport services, Social Care transport services, and vehicle fleet management. Contribute to the annual formulation of budgets and maintain effective budget monitoring and internal control processes to provide strategic direction for the team. Oversee the procurement lifecycle for contracts and services, ensuring effective contract management, compliance monitoring, and that contractor performance meets service standards and safeguarding measures. Person Specification Background in the provision of transport services to vulnerable adults and children. Extensive management experience, particularly in managing Home to School Transport services or transport services for vulnerable client groups. Significant experience in writing processes and procedures to meet statutory transport regulations and delivering high-quality service provision. Sound knowledge and experience of human and financial resource management, with a substantial track record of setting goals for service performance. Proven contract negotiating skills in a complex operating environment to achieve business objectives. Ability to work effectively in corporate and partnership settings with excellent interpersonal skills and experience in team management. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to prioritize, plan, and use resources effectively.
