Location: Hornton Street, W8 7NX

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 2+ Months

Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £ 30.40 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities

  • Offer expert legal advice and guidance on public procurement, contract, and commercial law.
  • Provide legal support for regeneration, housing, schools, and commercial construction projects.
  • Deliver efficient legal services in the Contract and Procurement Team.
  • Advise on matters related to Construction Acts, Public Contracts, Data Protection, and administrative law.
  • Handle complex and routine legal cases independently.
  • Act as an advocate in court proceedings and public inquiries.
  • Negotiate terms with external parties and attend relevant meetings.
  • Draft legal documents and statements, ensuring compliance with time limits.
  • Attend and advise at Council meetings and committees.
  • Instruct external solicitors or Counsel when necessary.
  • Keep records of all work and monitor changes in law and practice.
  • Identify training needs and assist with quality management initiatives.

Person Specifications Must Have

  • Qualified Solicitor entitled to practice in England and Wales.
  • Specialist knowledge and experience in public procurement, contract, and construction law.
  • Ability to communicate complex legal issues clearly.
  • Experience in handling construction law matters.
  • Knowledge of Local Government law or willingness to learn.
  • Computer literacy and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work independently.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working within or for Local Government.
  • Experience representing at Courts, Tribunals, and Inquiries.
