Position: Senior Highway Engineer
Location: Preston, PR1 8RE
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Pay Rate: PAYE: £206.78 Per day
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support and expertise on highway engineering projects.
- Design, review and assess highway engineering schemes.
- Ensure work complies with relevant legislation, standards and local authority requirements.
- Prepare and review technical reports, drawings and project documentation.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress and provide technical advice to support delivery.
- Assist with resolving engineering and design issues as they arise.
Person Specification:
Must-Have Requirements:
- Proven experience in highway engineering.
- Strong technical knowledge of highway design and engineering standards.
- Ability to prepare and review technical documentation.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
- Successful interview and CV assessment.
- Satisfactory references covering the last two years, including verification of any employment gaps.
- Valid National Insurance number.
- All required licences, qualifications and professional registrations verified before appointment.
Nice-to-Have Requirements:
- Previous experience working within a local authority environment.
- Experience managing or supporting multiple highway projects.
- Knowledge of Lancashire County Council procedures and standards.
