Location: 1 Catford Road, Catford, London, SE6 4RU

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Duration: 7+ months

Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £ 26.94 per hour

Job Responsibilities

Manage complex investigations related to fraud and corruption.

Produce detailed reports with conclusions and recommendations.

Ensure fraud prevention, detection, and investigation.

Self-manage a caseload of fraud allegations.

Conduct investigations in line with legal requirements.

Review and prioritize investigation cases.

Adhere to internal policies and suggest improvements.

Coordinate the National Fraud Initiative bi-annual exercise.

Interview individuals professionally, including under caution.

Maintain confidentiality and professionalism.

Keep accurate records of investigations.

Work with police during arrests and searches.

Act as a disclosures officer in legal proceedings.

Conduct pre-employment vetting for high-risk positions.

Verify authenticity of documents and information.

Represent the council in hearings and court as needed.

Develop and deliver fraud awareness training.

Provide advice on fraud-related inquiries.

Stay updated on investigatory methods and legislation.

Participate in partnership work with various agencies.

Promote corporate anti-fraud strategies.

Conduct surveillance following legal guidelines.

Assist in recruitment and training of new staff.

Publicize successful prosecutions to deter fraud.

Follow equal opportunities and health and safety policies.

Person Specifications

Experience managing complex investigations.

Strong report writing skills.

Knowledge of relevant legislation.

Ability to prioritize and manage a caseload.

Excellent communication and interview skills.

Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.

Ability to work with law enforcement.

Experience with document verification.

Training and presentation skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Must Have

Experience in fraud investigation.

Knowledge of legal requirements for investigations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Professionalism and confidentiality.

Nice to Have

Experience with the National Fraud Initiative.
