Working Hours: Mon-Fri, 09:00, 37 Hours per week

Pay Rate: £71.77 Per Hour

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the creation of the Council's accounts.
  • Act as the main expert on financial accounting rules and advise the Council's finance officer.
  • Maintain the Council's financial control system, ensuring regular reconciliations.
  • Communicate and manage relationships with External Auditors.
  • Handle year-end capital and asset accounting processes.
  • Provide financial accounting advice to support decision-making and financial modeling.
  • Complete VAT returns and offer corporate advice on VAT matters.
  • Have overall responsibility for the Balance Sheet.
  • Manage improvements in the Council's financial systems and reporting.

Person Specifications:

  • Must Have: CCAB qualification.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid setting, with office attendance once a week and occasional evening meetings.
  • Nice to Have: Experience in a similar role within a public sector organization.
  • Strong communication skills for presenting to directors and councillors.
