Job Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage compliance contracts relating to Asbestos, Gas Safety, and Water Hygiene across the council’s property portfolio.
- Ensure statutory compliance with all relevant health & safety legislation and building safety regulations.
- Monitor contractor performance, ensuring works are delivered to agreed standards, budgets, and timescales.
- Act as the subject matter expert for compliance in building services and maintenance.
- Oversee inspections, audits, certification, and remedial works to maintain full regulatory compliance.
- Manage compliance data, maintain accurate records, and provide performance reporting.
- Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and senior stakeholders to ensure safe and effective service delivery.
- Support risk management processes and ensure robust compliance monitoring frameworks are in place.
Person Specification:
Must Have:
- Strong experience in compliance contract management within building services or property maintenance.
- In-depth knowledge of asbestos management, gas safety regulations, and water hygiene (Legionella control).
- Understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance requirements.
- Experience managing contractors and monitoring performance against KPIs.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple compliance streams.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Nice to Have:
- Relevant professional qualification in Building Services, Compliance, or Health & Safety.
- Experience working within local authority or public sector housing/property.
- Knowledge of compliance management systems and reporting tools.
- NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety certification.
