This role will provide environmental advice and support across our civil engineering projects, ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, planning conditions, and company procedures, while helping to improve environmental performance on site. You will work closely with project teams to ensure environmental requirements are understood and applied in a practical way on-site.
Responsibilities
- Carrying out regular site inspections and audits, identifying risks, and providing practical advice
- Supporting site teams with ecological matters, including pre-construction inspections
- Ensuring compliance with environmental legislation, permits, licences, and consent conditions
- Preparing Construction Environmental Management Plans and site-specific controls
- Supporting pollution prevention, ecology, archaeology, and nuisance management on-site
- Liaising with regulators and stakeholders, including SEPA and NatureScot
- Supporting the investigation of environmental incidents and identifying improvements
- Delivering toolbox talks and providing guidance to improve environmental awareness
- Supporting environmental input into tenders, including risks, constraints, and opportunities
Qualifications
- Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Ecology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in environmental advisory roles within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of UK environmental legislation and sustainability practices.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in environmental assessment tools and software.
