Join our dynamically growing business in the UK renewable energy sector as a Utility-Scale Solar PV Electrician. In this fully mobile role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, termination, testing, and commissioning of DC and AC systems on large-scale solar farm projects nationwide. About the role
As an Electrician- Electrical Supervisor who is passionate about renewables, you will complete all day-to-day operation and maintenance services to ensure that the PV systems operate to maximum efficiency. You will offer technical reporting services for PV and BESS system installation & construction as well as preventative and corrective maintenance tasks. The role will be field-based, working on a range of utility scale projects, whilst being the face of the company at client properties on installation day alongside testing and inspecting the electrical work.
Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test DC string cabling from solar modules to combiner boxes and inverters, ensuring correct polarity, labelling, and compliance with technical drawings.
- Work closely with the management team to supervise and execute planned preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and troubleshooting/fault finding as well as new installations and/or remedial works.
- Provide comprehensive reports in line with i-Connect standards in a prompt and diligent manner.
- Report all activities performed on site upon any site visit and on a daily basis.
- Install, joint and terminate LV/MV cables within trenches, containment, and substations—including connections to inverters, transformers, and AC systems.
- Support the installation of LV & HV switchgear, control panels, and SCADA cabling as required.
- Assist with testing and commissioning activities, including continuity, insulation resistance, and earth testing, VLF, as well as inverter energisation and troubleshooting.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, cable schedules, and schematics to complete work to high standards and deadlines.
- Maintain accurate installation records and contribute to quality and handover documentation.
- Adhere to all HSE procedures at all times and play an active role in a risk assessment.
- Comply with all required fire, health and safety requirements for the environment you are working in, including making yourself aware of the current applicable policies and risk assessments, acting accordingly and attending any required training.
What we are looking for
- Must have experience on utility-scale Solar PV projects (domestic-only experience will not be considered).
- Must be willing and flexible to travel and stay away from home.
- Full and clean UK driving licence.
- ECS/CSCS card.
- Experience with DC, AC LV and/or MV cable installation and terminations.
- Knowledge of AC&DC electrical systems such as AC distribution boards, DC combiner boxes, inverters, transformers, automation panels, etc.
- Able to use IT equipment and mobile phone for reporting, working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
- Diligent & knowledgeable approach to Health & Safety.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
- Experience working on construction sites.
- IOSH or NEBOSH advantageous.
