We’re looking for an experienced Technical Service Recovery Lead to support a large-scale technology resilience and recovery programme. This is a technically focused role, working across a complex technology estate to understand how critical systems and services are constructed, identify their underlying dependencies, and define how they can be effectively recovered following a major incident. The initial engagement will focus on discovery and the creation of technical recovery artefacts, providing the foundations for detailed recovery runbooks.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead discovery sessions with infrastructure, platform and technical teams
- Understand existing recovery capabilities, processes and gaps across the technology estate
- Identify the components and dependencies required to recover systems and services
- Work with CMDB and service information to map applications, infrastructure and supporting technologies
- Gather and consolidate technical recovery information from multiple teams
- Define and document technical recovery processes and requirements
- Create structured recovery artefacts that can be developed into operational runbooks
- Work across technologies including databases, middleware, infrastructure and enterprise platforms
- Ensure recovery documentation reflects how services could practically be restored following a significant incident
What we’re looking for:
- You’ll need a strong technical background combined with demonstrable experience of IT service recovery, disaster recovery or technology resilience within a large and complex environment.
- We’re particularly interested in people with experience of:
- Technical service recovery / disaster recovery
- Infrastructure and platform technologies
- Databases and middleware
- Service and application dependencies
- Recovery planning and documentation
- RTO/RPO and recovery requirements
- Creating technical recovery procedures, artefacts or runbooks
- Leading workshops and engaging with technical SMEs across multiple technology domains
This is not a traditional Business Continuity, Risk or Change role. We need someone technically strong who understands how enterprise technology platforms operate and, importantly, how they can be recovered when things go wrong. Contract will be inside IR35 and be for 8 weeks. Client office is in London, role can be hybrid or remote working, although all applicants must be based in the UK.
