The Employer Engagement Officer will act as a positive brand ambassador for I Can Do That! and the Connect to Work programme across Torbay. The role will focus on building relationships with local employers, promoting inclusive recruitment, and creating suitable job opportunities for participants who may face barriers to work. This will include both broad employer engagement β raising awareness through networking, events, social media, and local business contacts β and targeted employer engagement, matching individual participants to realistic roles based on their skills, goals, and support needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong relationships with employers across Torbay.
- Promote Connect to Work and the benefits of inclusive recruitment.
- Identify vacancies, work trials, interviews, placements, and paid employment opportunities.
- Use social media, especially LinkedIn, to engage employers and promote the programme.
- Attend networking events, jobs fairs, business meetings, and community events.
- Work with Employment Specialists and Job Coaches to match participants to suitable roles.
- Support employers to understand reasonable adjustments, Access to Work, and the Disability Confident scheme.
- Gather information about job roles, workplace expectations, hours, duties, and support needs.
- Represent I Can Do That! professionally and positively across Torbay.
- Keep accurate records of employer contacts, opportunities, and outcomes.
Essential Criteria
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or ability to travel independently across Torbay.
- Strong communication, networking, presentation, or teaching skills.
- Confidence approaching employers and promoting a service professionally.
- Good understanding of Torbayβs local labour market.
- Understanding of people who may face barriers to employment, including physical or mental health conditions, disability, low confidence, limited work history, or gaps in employment.
- Confidence using social media professionally.
- Organised, proactive, resilient, and solution-focused.
Desirable Criteria
- Existing links with Torbay employers, business networks, or community partners.
- Experience in employability, supported employment, training, recruitment, or community programmes.
- Experience in sales, recruitment, business development, employer engagement, or a similar role.
- Knowledge of Access to Work, Disability Confident, reasonable adjustments, and inclusive recruitment.
- Understanding of job carving, vocational profiling, and in-work support.
Main Purpose
To connect Torbay employers with Connect to Work participants by creating realistic, suitable, and sustainable employment opportunities, while promoting I Can Do That! as a trusted local partner for inclusive recruitment.
