Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring lessons that develop students' reading, writing and communication skills.
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, differentiated English lessons in line with the national curriculum.
  • Teach English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 experience welcomed where applicable).
  • Encourage a love of reading, writing and critical thinking.
  • Assess, monitor and track student progress to support achievement.
  • Create a calm, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of English, Teaching Assistants and wider staff.
  • Adapt teaching to support students with SEND, EAL or additional learning needs.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents and colleagues.
  • Contribute to enrichment activities such as reading initiatives, writing clubs or intervention programmes.

About You

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) preferred; ECTs and experienced teachers encouraged to apply.
  • Confident teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 and KS4.
  • Passionate about literacy and student progress.
  • Calm, reflective and consistent in their approach to behaviour management.
  • A strong communicator who works effectively within a team.
  • Organised, adaptable and confident in managing classroom routines.
