Full-Time Teaching Assistant – SEMH School

Location: St Neots, Cambridgeshire

Position: Teaching Assistant

Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday

I C Talent are currently recruiting for a full-time Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school in St Neots. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, resilient and passionate about helping children and young people overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential.

The Role

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and support staff to provide a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment. You will support pupils both academically and pastorally, helping them to develop their confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing. The role will involve:

  • Supporting pupils in the classroom and during activities
  • Providing one-to-one and small-group support where required
  • Helping pupils manage their emotions and behaviour
  • Building positive and trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting the delivery of engaging learning activities
  • Working closely with teachers and the wider school team
  • Encouraging pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence

The Ideal Candidate

  • Patient, caring and empathetic
  • Confident working with children and young people
  • Resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations
  • Passionate about supporting pupils with SEMH needs
  • A strong communicator and team player
  • Reliable and committed to working 5 days a week
  • Previous experience working with children, young people or within an education/SEMH setting is desirable
