We are seeking passionate, resilient and dedicated SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistants to join a specialist school in King's Lynn, supporting children and young people aged 6-19 with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, and associated learning difficulties. You will be supporting engaging, differentiated lessons that meet a wide range of abilities while supporting pupils to develop academically, emotionally and socially in a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, accessible lessons across KS1-KS5
- Support students with SEMH needs, challenging behaviour, and additional learning needs
- Implement behaviour support strategies and personalised learning plans (EHCPs)
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils to support engagement and progress
- Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and senior leaders
- Track progress and contribute to reviews and reporting
- Promote emotional regulation, resilience, and positive outcomes for all learners
We are looking for someone who is:
- A qualified teaching assistant
- Confident working with children and young people with complex needs
- Skilled in behaviour management and de-escalation strategies
- Patient, empathetic, and resilient under pressure
- Passionate about making a difference in alternative/special education
- Able to adapt teaching to meet individual learning needs
Desirable Experience
- SEN or SEMH school experience
- Experience with Autism (ASC), ADHD, trauma-informed practice
- Background in primary, secondary, or alternative provision settings
- Strong understanding of EHCPs and differentiated curriculum delivery
