We are recruiting SEMH Practitioners/Mentors for a supportive SEMH-focused school in King's Lynn working with children and young people who present with social, emotional and mental health needs. The school provides structured, nurturing support to help pupils re-engage with learning, develop emotional regulation skills and build positive relationships. This is a full-time role, due to start ASAP.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted behaviour and emotional support to pupils with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom.
- Support pupils to access learning by helping them manage behaviour, emotions and responses to challenging situations.
- Use consistent, trauma-informed strategies to promote positive behaviour, engagement, and self-regulation.
- Build trusting relationships with pupils, offering mentoring and guidance to support confidence, resilience and social development.
- Work closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to implement behaviour plans and supportive interventions.
Pre-requisites:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs or who display challenging behaviour, within schools, alternative provisions, youth work, care or mentoring roles.
- Understanding of behaviour support strategies and how emotional and social needs can impact learning.
- Confidence managing challenging behaviour using calm, consistent, and structured approaches.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to form positive, professional relationships with pupils and staff.
- Relevant training or qualifications such as Youth Work, Childcare, Behaviour Support, Team Teach, or equivalent experience.
