Advanced Pharmacist - Clinical Haematology in Wideopen

We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist to join our expanding non‑medical Haematology team. The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach to work, be organised, work well within a multidisciplinary team and have a ‘can do’ positive attitude. Haematology is one of the most exciting specialities, with new treatments becoming available frequently and a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. The whole multidisciplinary team are in the process of sub‑specialising within haematology and naturally, our pharmacists will specialise alongside.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will prescribe and manage systemic anti‑cancer therapies (SACT) across a range of haematological malignancies but concentrating on their specialist area. They will work alongside other cancer professionals to provide clinical and prescribing support to haematology outpatient clinics. The post will be based in Withybush Hospital, Pembrokeshire but this is negotiable as the successful applicant will care for patients across the whole of Hywel Dda, in a mixture of face to face and virtual clinics. While every effort will be made to keep travel to a minimum there will be an expectation to work across sites, therefore a willingness and ability to travel between sites in a timely manner would be beneficial.

Experience within a cancer services/aseptic role in a hospital setting at least at a band 7 level is desirable, as well as experience of our e‑prescribing system (ChemoCare). Candidates should have demonstrable competencies in hospital clinical pharmacy practice and excellent communication skills. Furthermore candidates should be highly organised and have undertaken a Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy (or equivalent). Having a non‑medical prescribing qualification is essential (or the ability to complete within 6 months of starting post). We would support undertaking postgraduate clinical qualifications and encourage a culture of both personal and service development.
