An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Junior Sister / Charge Nurse to join Ward 11 in Withybush General Hospital. Ward 11 is an 18‑bed Stroke and Rehabilitation Ward with a 4‑bed Acute Stroke Unit. It delivers acute stroke care and facilitates rehabilitation with a multi‑disciplinary team approach.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and highly skilled nurse to provide professional leadership and management to support the Ward Manager. The role offers an opportunity for a self‑motivated individual with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in the daily running of the ward. The post holder will adopt a highly visible and accessible approach, leading by example and empowering their team to maintain patient safety, improve patient care and experience, and sustain high standards of nursing care.
Main duties of the job:
- Combine excellent clinical practice with day‑to‑day shift coordination and uphold leadership and management responsibilities in support of the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse.
- Support and work in conjunction with the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, including deputising/taking charge of the clinical area or team in their absence.
- Provide supervisory management and leadership skills in a complex and pressurised clinical environment.
- Provide professional nursing leadership and guidance in line with NMC standards, delivering clinical advice and undertaking management and monitoring activities to ensure the effective delivery of high standards of nursing care at all times.
- Work alongside the nursing team and MDT, supporting junior colleagues in the provision of direct care.
- Proactively contribute to the implementation of NMC Standards for education, including student supervision and assessment.
- Provide leadership and role‑modeling in the development and mentorship of new and existing staff.
- Demonstrate the Health Board’s values and beliefs in everything you do within the work environment.
