An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Decision Support Analyst to join our Value, Business Intelligence and Costing team and lead on the development of business intelligence tools which will provide insights into how Hywel Dda University Health Board healthcare delivery varies from other healthcare providers to support the Health Board's Value agenda, highlighting opportunities for the Health Board and the development of the Health Board's efficiency programme.
The post holder will advise and assist the Head of Value at Glangwili Hospital in Carmarthen, Prince Philip Hospital in Llanelli, and Withybush Hospital in Haverfordwest, as well as five community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery hospitals in Carmarthenshire, Tregaron Hospital in Ceredigion, and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire hospitals in Pembrokeshire. Additionally, the role involves two integrated care centres: Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion, and several other community settings, including 47 general practices (six of which are health board managed practices), dental practices (including four orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 43 general ophthalmic practices, and 8 ophthalmic domiciliary providers, along with numerous mental health and learning disabilities services.

This post is advertised as a Band 7 and ideally candidates for this role will be fully CCAB or CIMA qualified. However, applicants who do not currently hold the full qualification for the Band 7 role are encouraged to apply, and if successful, will need to attain the qualification and professional registration within 12 months and will be appointed under the All Wales Annex 21 rules.
If successful, they will be appointed under Annex 21 rules, whereby 75% of the top of Band 7 will be payable in the first year. They will be supported by a development plan. Following successful attainment of the CCAB or CIMA qualification and professional registration, the post holder will then be paid at Band 7 (minimum point on the scale). Support and supervision will be provided in order to develop the successful applicant to the Band 7 role. Failure to achieve the qualification and required competencies in the designated timeframe could result in re-deployment.
As part of the Annex 21 process, there is no financial penalty to those who apply for this role where the percentage will cause a reduction in pay; subsequently, local protection would be put in place until the pay has caught up.
Situated in south-west Wales, the Health Board has a budget of over £1.4 billion with four district general hospitals, other acute and community hospitals, a network of health centres, clinics, community health team bases, and mental health units across three counties.
