Are you ready to take your career to the next level within a dynamic and forward-thinking sonography service? We’re seeking a highly skilled and motivated Sonographer with excellent communication abilities to deliver top-quality care to our patients and support the development of our trainees.

Based within the Radiology department at Withybush General Hospital in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire; our service performs a comprehensive range of ultrasound investigations using state-of-the-art equipment, with all systems recently upgraded. Applicants must be a Registered Health Professional with an appropriate post graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound and evidence of relevant experience. There may be a requirement to work flexible hours to meet service demands.

Main duties of the job:
  • Be responsible for scanning patients and producing independent reports of these scans in line with departmental guidelines;
  • Take an active role in teaching and practical training of student Sonographers and others in training;
  • Participate in the audit and clinical governance programs with the department;
  • Communicate with patients, their relatives, and others about the purpose of the examinations and the scan results (in line with departmental guidelines);
  • Develop one's own skills and knowledge and contribute to the development of others, identifying any training needs to the Lead Sonographer;
  • Plan and prioritise one's own workload and that of that area to ensure the efficient flow of work, keeping waiting times to a minimum whilst maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
