Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our portering team at Withybush Hospital.

No formal qualifications are required but you should demonstrate a caring attitude and have excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team. As an Operating Department Porter you will ensure patients receive safe standards of care. You will communicate effectively at all times and in conjunction with other team members, contributing to maintaining the department philosophy.

Various shift patterns are available.

Main duties of the job

Duties will be varied and will include the following:

safe transportation of blood/blood products and clinical specimens to the path lab.

cleaning of theatres, general maintenance checks, handling and safe disposal of waste and linen

collection and return of patients from ward/admitting area

The post holder will be expected to undertake allocated tasks in relation to the care environment , the direct care of the patient/client and in accordance with the Health Board\’s policies and procedures.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

48 General Practices (GP surgeries), 49 Dental Practices, 98 Community Pharmacies (chemists), 44 General Ophthalmic Practices (including eye health and low vision services), 38 sites providing mental health and learning disability services, care within your own homes

Highly specialised and tertiary services commissioned by the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee, a joint committee representing seven health boards across Wales.
