This opportunity is to join the Obstetrics and Gynecology Team at Glangwili General Hospital. Applications are invited from efficient and suitably qualified individuals for the post of a full‑time Band 4 Medical Secretary within the Obstetrics and Gynecology Team based at Glangwili General Hospital, Carmarthen on a fixed‑term basis. Working 37.5 hours per week, the successful candidate will support the delivery of a comprehensive and quality secretarial service to the Consultants and their teams.

Responsibilities

  • Support Consultants and their teams by providing a comprehensive and quality secretarial service.
  • Undertake a broad range of administrative and secretarial duties, including the receipt and distribution of correspondence, audio transcription, and the preparation of highly sensitive letters and reports, ensuring strict confidentiality is maintained at all times.
  • Operate accurately the Health Board's patient database systems.
  • Demonstrate exceptional organisational skills and maintain a flexible, adaptable approach to an evolving workload.
  • Work independently, exercise sound judgement, and apply tact and diplomacy in a professional healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and email systems.
  • Proven secretarial expertise, including advanced audio typing skills.
  • Sound understanding of medical terminology.
  • Ability to speak Welsh is desirable; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
