We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Consultant in Psychiatry of Intellectual Disability to join our Pembrokeshire Community Team for Learning Disabilities and help shape the next phase of service development.

Our purpose is to ensure people with learning disabilities receive high‑quality, compassionate and equitable care. The Learning Disability Service includes established pathways for Dementia, Epilepsy and Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities, with an emerging Mental Health Pathway in development.

We are deeply committed to reducing health inequalities, strengthening early identification, intervention and prevention through our Primary Care Liaison Service, and enhancing our proactive, preventative model of care.

Main Duties

The post holder will provide specialist community psychiatric care to people with intellectual disabilities living in Pembrokeshire, working as part of a highly skilled, supportive, multidisciplinary team.

This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to influence service design, mentor colleagues and drive improvements in care quality and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and professional leadership to staff within the specialty.
  • Deliver safe, effective and evidence‑based clinical care in line with Health Board policies and service plans.
  • Support and develop teaching, training and research activities.
  • Contribute to the Consultant on‑call rota (1 in 14).
  • Play an active role in service development, business planning and strategic growth.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, supporting and training colleagues across professions.
