We are looking for motivated and dynamic Nursing Support Workers to join our dedicated team in the Acute Medical Assessment Unit (AMAU) at Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. AMAU is a hub of activity; we provide the key to safe, effective patient treatment and flow. We manage medical patients and receive all medical emergencies via ambulance within the locality. Our aim is to provide seamless, high-quality care for patients using our service. The unit is made up of 24 beds and includes 3 resus beds where we are able to directly admit emergency patients from the ambulances, GP surgeries, Minor Injuries Unit, SDEC and Outpatient services within Prince Philip Hospital.
There is an opportunity to learn new skills and gain further experience in caring for acutely unwell patients while developing professionally within a positive and challenging environment. The unit operates a variety of shift patterns to suit service requirements including days/night rotation. Various full and part time hours available.
Main duties of the job

We are looking for Nursing Support Workers who are able to work under pressure to join our dedicated team of staff on the Acute Medical Assessment Unit. The unit requires Nursing Support Workers who are keen to learn and able to adopt a flexible approach to work. This role will require you to undertake delegated clinical observations and to communicate effectively. The successful candidate will experience working within a relevant Nursing Support Worker role across AMAU and be expected to liaise with key members of the team and service users, as well as engaging in all aspects of patient care.

Qualifications and Knowledge
- Level 3 qualification in a health care related subject or equivalent experience and can evidence work based competency demonstrating theoretical knowledge, and the ability to undertake clinical care duties relevant for the role which is gained through experience and work based training/short courses
- Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers in Wales and All Wales Delegation Guidelines (HEIW)
- Knowledge of relevant policies and procedures within a healthcare setting for example the principles of Safeguarding adults/children to keep patients within their care safe, and confidentiality for example General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR)
Experience
- Experience of working within a relevant health or social care environment, providing direct patient care
- Experience of working with patient groups relevant to area of practice
- Experience of working within the NHS
