The Catering Department at Prince Philip Hospital is currently looking to recruit a Bank Catering Assistant who would join a large team in providing an effective and efficient cleaning and catering service. The successful candidate will play an integral role within the team in ensuring that the food is prepared, delivered and the department is cleaned to the highest standard.
Responsibilities:- Provide catering and food service for all patients and visitors in accordance with the agreed Catering and Nutritional Policy, Food Safety Regulations and Food Hygiene Regulations.
- Support the catering service, ensuring patients, staff and visitors receive safe, high‑quality meals every day.
- Involved in all aspects of kitchen work, including general cleaning of floors, walls, work surfaces and equipment, following the agreed cleaning schedules.
- Help with basic food preparation such as vegetables, salads, sandwiches and simple finger foods.
- Receive deliveries of food stores and cleaning materials, check everything is correct and store items safely in line with our operational policies.
- Take part in the patient meal service, ensuring portion sizes are correct and meals are accurate, while being aware of special dietary needs.
- Follow colour‑coding systems and maintain hygiene standards.
- Desire to work in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment and ready to adapt to changing needs.
- Willingness to learn and meet health and safety standards.
- Welsh language communication desirable; the Health Board offers learning options to meet minimal Welsh language requirements.
