Hywel Dda University Health Board is seeking an exceptional and forward-thinking Head of Health, Safety and Security to provide visible, strategic leadership and assurance across a breadth of health and safety services. Covering a large and diverse geographical footprint across West Wales, this role offers a significant opportunity to combine strategic influence at Board level with meaningful impact on implementing safe working practices across a high pace healthcare environment.
The post holder will play a critical role in strengthening organisational safety, embedding a positive and learning-focused culture, and supporting the Health Board's wider transformation and modernisation agenda. This role is well suited to a highly experienced specialist who is motivated to shape policy and practice across acute, community and primary care settings, while benefiting from the professional and lifestyle advantages of working in one of the most distinctive parts of Wales. This senior leadership role offers considerable scope to influence service delivery at both local and national levels.
The post holder will ensure Hywel Dda University Health Board consistently meets its statutory responsibilities, strengthens organisational assurance, and continues to develop a strong, inclusive and sustainable culture of safety for patients, staff and the wider population.
Main duties of the job include:
- Providing strategic, operational and professional leadership across all aspects of health, safety, security and staff welfare.
- Providing authoritative strategic leadership and professional guidance across the Health Board's sites and services throughout Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire.
- Leading the development, implementation and continuous review of robust, evidence-based policies, strategies and improvement plans, ensuring compliance.
